a product called Permasil WB, a water-borne liquid silicone rubber
water repellent. Permasil WB has the consistency of water, is white
in appearance, and cures to a totally clear finish. Hardwick Distributing
claims that Permasil WB will "prevent the CCA [in treated wood]
from leaching out and with the borate additive will stop termites
as well as the growth of fungi". Permasil WB is "completely
environmentally friendly", requires only a single coat, and can
be pigmented to achieve any color. In addition, this product is impervious
to UV radiation and acid rain, which makes it ideal for treatment
of CCA wood decking. It can also be used for treating log homes, and
can be applied to a variety of building materials including concrete,
concrete block, brick, mortar, stucco, wood and canvas. Truly, this
is a revolutinoary one-size-fits-all product!. Hardwick Distributing has supplied BANCCA.ORG with a small sample of their product for testing purposes, along with a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
